Frequently Asked Questions

Does Cash App Borrow affect your credit score?

In ordinary use, no. Cash App Borrow needs no credit check to take out, so requesting it will not lower your score, and Cash App does not report your on-time repayment to the credit bureaus. So paying it back on time neither builds nor hurts your credit. The exception is a payment you miss badly enough that the debt is sent to a collection agency, which then reports it.

Does Cash App Borrow build credit?

No. Because on-time Borrow activity is not furnished to Equifax, Experian or TransUnion, repaying it perfectly does nothing for your score. It is a short-term cash advance, not a credit builder. If you want to build credit, you need a product that reports your on-time payments, which Borrow does not.

Does taking a Cash App Borrow loan require a credit check?

No. Cash App Borrow does not run a hard credit pull to approve you. Instead, eligibility is based on how you use Cash App, such as your direct deposit and transaction activity. Because there is no hard inquiry, taking a Borrow loan does not lower your score the way applying for a credit card can.

Can Cash App Borrow hurt my credit?

Yes, if you fall far behind. Late payments add a fee, roughly 1.25% a week on the outstanding amount, and Cash App may pull the Borrow feature. If the debt goes unpaid long enough, it can be sent to a collection agency, and that collection is reported to the bureaus and drags your score. The routine loan stays off your report; the default does not.

Is Cash App Score the same as a credit score?

No. Cash App Score is a separate behavioral score Block has been piloting using your real-time Cash App activity, and it is not your FICO or VantageScore. It does not replace the score a mortgage or auto lender pulls. Do not confuse a good Cash App Score with a good credit score; they measure different things for different purposes.

Will Cash App Borrow show up on my credit report?

The loan itself normally will not, because Cash App does not furnish on-time Borrow activity to the bureaus. What can appear is the collection if you default, listed under the collection agency rather than Cash App. So not seeing Cash App on your report does not prove the loan never happened.
